Create and save IVR prompts using the MiTel Connect Client.

This guide provides a convenient method for creating audio recordings using the MiTel Connect Client application.  Recordings are made using the softphone feature built into the Connect Client, a compatible headset or desk phone. Recordings can then be extracted as a .wav file to send to administrators of the MiTel phone system for inclusion in Auto Attendant menus, Workgroup announcements and Contact Centre IVR Prompts.

Step 1: Create a Group in Contacts

Open the client and click on the ‘Contacts’ tab on the left, under your name. In the middle window that opens, click ‘Group’ and then click the ‘plus inside a circle’ icon and select ‘Add Group’ from the drop down menu that appears…

Step 2: Name the group and add yourself to it

Name the group (in this example we’ve called it ‘Recordings’) and then add yourself as a member of the group by typing your name or extension number in the box labelled ‘Group Members’ and then click ‘Create’ in the bottom right hand corner...

We will use this Group as a target to send a voicemail recording.  You can add other users within your organisation to this group or even add them later as a recipient for specific recordings.  This can be useful if you record announcements for different people on different occasions.

Step 3: Create and send a recording

Click the three dotted lines to the right of the group name and box to the right will open. Then click onto ‘Send Voicemail’…

Next, enter a name for the recording (IVR 1234 in this example) and enter your own name or extension number in the ‘To:’ box.  Use the record (Rec) and playback buttons to create your recorded message and then click the ‘Send’ button once you are happy…

Step 4: Save the recording as a .Wav file to send with the IVR change request.

Once the voicemail message is delivered it will appear in your voicemail tab.  Right click the recording and then select ‘Download Voicemail as WAV’.  You will then be able to choose the location of where to save the file so that it can be retrieved and attached to an email.
