Microsoft Edge - Clearing cookies/ permissions and browser history

This guide provides instructions on how to clear the cache and history in the web browser Microsoft Edge. This can assist in the general running of the browser and resolve multiple issues with in-browser systems.

Clearing cookies and permissions.

Open the Microsoft edge browser located on your desktop.

In the top right corner click on the 3 horizontal dots.

From the drop-down list click into Settings.

In the new tab click into cookies and site permissions and then into ‘Manage and delete cookies and site data.’

Next click into ‘See all cookies and site data.

On the next page click on the ‘Remove all’ button and in the pop-up box that appears click ‘clear’

Now fully close the web browser (This can be done via task manger or by restarting the laptop)

Clearing Browser History

Open the Microsoft edge browser located on your desktop.

In the top right corner click on the 3 horizontal dots. From the drop-down list click into ‘History.’ Or press CTRL+ H on your keyboard.

A drop-down list will appear on the right side of the browser. In the top right corner, there is a small bin icon click on this.

A new tab will open with a small box in the middle called ‘Delete browsing data’.

In the drop-down list for ‘time range’ select ‘All Time’.

Under neither this there is a list you can scroll through. Tick every box except for passwords.

Then click ‘Clear now’

Fully close the web browser. This can be done via task manger or by restarting the laptop.

Q: What happens if I do clear the password history?

A: You will need to renter your password on websites that previously auto filled. If you can’t remember these there should be options to recover them. If you have further problems or are unsure, please raise a Fresh ticket then call the Service desk team
