Dual Monitors: A set up guide
Summary
In the Stepchange offices dual monitors are provided at each desk. This guide will talk you through connecting your Stepchange Laptop to these and changing the layout of the on-screen images.

Connecting the Laptop
To connect your laptop to the monitors, find the correct wire that is attached to the docking station and plug this into your laptop.
HP laptops can connect via the C- type connector (shown in the image below) and plug in on the right side of your laptop. These will also charge your laptop.
Lenovo Laptops will need to connect using a USB connector. (these will not charge your laptop).
Once plugged in ensure the dock and both screens are turned on. Power buttons on the screens are located on the bottom right. For the Docks its located either on the front or the top.
Display Settings
Opening Display Settings and Detecting monitors
On your windows desktop and right click using your mouse.
On the drop-down list that appears click on “Display Settings.”
Your laptop should automatically detect your monitors and a screen will open like the one below.
If you don't see the monitors, select Multiple displays, then detect.
(You will know if they haven’t detected as no images will have appeared on the screens)
Arranging your Displays
Drag and drop the display icons to match the physical arrangement of your monitors (these are the boxes in the above image numbered 1,2,3).
Click the Identify button while arranging your screens to see the number on the screen correlating to the small boxes.
Do this until your happy with the layout and press apply.
Choosing your Display Mode
In Display settings select the drop-down list shown in the image below.
Here you can select how you would like to use the monitors.
Extend – Your desktop is over multiple screens, which you can move between seamlessly by moving your mouse. You can move items between the displays.
Duplicate – What is showing on the laptop screen will show on a monitor at the same time.
PC/Second screen only – See things on one display only.
FAQ’S
Q: I have plugged the wire in but the screen’s still wont turn on what should I do?
A: Ensure all wires are connected correctly to the dock, power supply and the back of the monitors if you are comfortable doing so. If this still doesn’t work raise a fresh ticket with the Service Desk Team and move to another desk. Please ensure you add the desk number to the ticket.
Q: Can I change my main display?
A: Yes. In display settings click on the monitor you would like to be your primary one and under the multiple displays drop down click the box ‘Make this my main display’
